About me

Lisa Waterhouse counselling 2

I work with couples and individuals in a way which considers your individual needs and offers a space for you to explore, manage and make sense of life's challenges and complexities. I am accredited with UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy) and registered with BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy). I work within professional guidelines and fully comply with their ethical frameworks, including regular supervision of my practice and I am fully insured.

Becoming a counsellor was a long-held ambition of mine, and although I came to the profession later in life, I believe the experience gained from working in various fields has been invaluable to my work. I, like many others, have faced my own challenges in life and chose to seek the help of a therapist, which has been a deeply valuable and life changing journey. I have discovered through my personal experience that counselling is a process, a journey to self-discovery and hopefully healing. If you are facing your own personal challenges, it can help to talk to someone who still understands what it feels like to begin such a journey, who will support you when life is at its most difficult and will help you achieve lasting, positive change in your life.

About my work

I provide a supportive environment to help you create the possibility of change.

I trained at Matrix College of counselling and psychotherapy in Norwich, and hold a BSc (Hons) in Integrative Counselling from Middlesex University.

I have worked extensively with adults and couples in my private practice and I have experience of working with a wide range of issues. I am drawn to working with trauma and PTSD and touched by my clients capacity for post traumatic growth. As a trauma informed therapist, I have a commitment to ongoing professional development in this field. I am also passionate about working with clients who are feeling lost or uncertain, suffering from a personal struggle within or have lost the joy and pleasure in life.

Prior to working in private practice, I have worked with the One to One project in Kings Lynn and as a school counsellor for a leading charity and delivered workplace training on mental health issues. I currently work in private practice and as a therapist for various emergency and frontline services, including Police and veterans experiencing PTSD and trauma.
