On Carrying Too Much

Many people move through life carrying more than anyone else realises.
Responsibilities.
Expectations.
Unspoken emotional weight.
Often these are the people others rely on.
The ones who hold things together.
Who listen carefully.
Who make sure everyone else is okay.
Over time, this can become a assumed role.
So familiar that it no longer feels like a choice.
You may have learned early in life that being dependable was important.
That being strong helped keep things steady.
But even the strongest people need somewhere to set things down.
Somewhere they don’t have to hold everything alone.
Therapy can sometimes become that place.
A space where the person who usually supports everyone else can finally be supported too.
Where the pressure to keep everything together lessens.
Where it becomes possible to speak about the things that rarely get spoken about.
And where the question slowly shifts from:
How do I keep managing everything? to something gentler...
What do I need?
If you’re navigating something similar and would like support, therapy can offer a space to explore this at your own pace.
