About me

As we go through life we inevitably experience suffering. Whilst it can be helpful to turn to friends or family, there are times when our experiences are more difficult to understand and resolve. We can lose touch with who we are now and who we want to be and are caught up in our past experiences or worries about the future, becoming chronically stressed and disconnected from ourselves and each other. Counselling provides a confidential, safe place where you can talk freely about your problems and concerns, what causes you worry and distress, and the experiences that have shaped you.

One of my core beliefs as a therapist is the human capacity for growth and that clients of all backgrounds, identities and lifestyles can grow to trust and believe in their own gifts and unique perspectives. My aim is to help you develop the confidence and courage to move forward and overcome obstacles that can feel impossible in everyday life.

A little bit about me

Hello, I'm Lisa

My aim is to support my clients to explore and understand  what may be contributing to the unhappiness, distress  or psychological suffering in their lives. I offer a safe, confidential and welcoming space for self discovery, development and change. My clinical practice is an integrative therapeutic model and combines elements of psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioural and humanistic approaches. This allows me to adapt to each of my client's needs and work to build a secure and trusting therapeutic relationship. I bring warmth, creativity and compassion to my work, with the aim of engaging my clients in the process of discovering their personal strengths, resources and potential. I believe that understanding, knowing and believing in who we are as individuals can help us to live bravely in our own skin and live the lives we want.

My experience spans across a range of different contexts and settings:

I have worked as a play therapist in primary school settings for a leading charity and delivered workplace training on mental health issues. I have also worked within community counselling services such as YMCA Cambridgeshire and One to One project in Kings Lynn, supporting both adults and young people experiencing a wide range of difficulties. Today, I work solely in private practice, and enjoy the flexibility that brings. My diverse background also includes working in various fields such as project management, education, West End theatre, film and television, visual arts industry and childcare.
