About me
As we go through life we inevitably experience suffering. Friends and family cannot always help, which can leave us feeling stuck, hopeless and unaware of what to do. Whilst it can be helpful to turn to a friend or family member, there are times when our experiences are more difficult to understand and resolve. We can lose touch with who we are now and who we want to become and are entangled in our past or thoughts about the future,  trying to think our way to a different place, but we never seem to find it. Our culture influences us to “push through” and “be strong,” to ignore our feelings and pursue achievement even when it’s not fulfilling. We eventually become so busy with the doing of life that we forget about being in life. As a result, we become intolerant to discomfort, and we move through life mindlessly, chronically stressed, and disconnected to ourselves and each other.

One of my core beliefs as a therapist is the human capacity for growth and that clients of all backgrounds, identities and lifestyles can grow to trust and believe in their own gifts and unique perspectives.  Counselling provides a confidential, safe place where you can talk freely about your problems and concerns, what causes you worry and distress, and the experiences that have shaped you. My aim is to help you develop the confidence and courage to move forward and overcome obstacles that can feel impossible in everyday life.

I am an Integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor and accredited with UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy) and a registered practitioner with BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and I adhere to their ethical and good practice guidelines. Many professionals are required to work ethically, however in counselling this means we put our respect of the client’s individual values, experiences and process of change at the forefront of the therapeutic relationship. I am committed to Continuing Professional Development and regular supervision of my practice and I maintain professional indemnity insurance.
My experience spans across a range of different contexts and settings: I have worked as a play therapist in primary school settings for a leading charity and delivered workplace training on mental health issues. I have also worked within community counselling services such as YMCA Cambridgeshire and One to One project in Kings Lynn, supporting both adults and young people experiencing a wide range of difficulties. Today, I work solely in private practice, and enjoy the flexibility that brings. There are no time restrictions imposed, but rather my clients come for as long as they feel they need to or want to and depending on what feels right in each particular situation.
My diverse background also includes working in various fields such as project management, education, West End theatre, film and television, visual arts industry and childcare.
